Upholstery Restoration: You Don’t Have to Junk it or Sell It When you Can Fix it!

Don’t Junk it or Sell It When you Can Fix it! - Floor Restore & MoreUpholstery restoration is gaining popularity. Whether it be from blog tutorials, inspiring Pinterest photos, or the economy, it is a fun hobby or DIY to try to tackle.

The type of upholstery restoration that you will be doing is completely dependent on what piece of furniture you are trying to revive. If you are planning on restoring a patio set that will be stored outside, you will need special outdoor water-resistant and fade-resistant fabric. If you are planning on refinishing a couch that will see high volumes of traffic, you will want to use a thicker home-décor fabric.

In addition to needing fabric, you may also need paint, a hammer, nails, a staple gun, gorilla glue, foam pads, scissors, a tape measure, sewing machine, and piping. This is usually not a one-day project; it could take you days or even weeks depending on the size of the object you are restoring.

Although upholstery restoration can be fun and rewarding, the fabric needed can be costly, especially if you are restoring a large couch or multiple pieces. If money is an issue, you will want to shop sales and clearance bolts. If you do not know how much fabric this project will require, check out these helpful charts.
