A Perfect & Simple Homemade Grout Cleaner

A Perfect & Simple Homemade Grout Cleaner - My Floor RestoreHaving tile in a room always adds beauty and class, but you will notice that after cleaning your tile, a lot of the dirt gets stuck in between the tiles in the grout. This is especially true if the grout was not sealed with a grout sealer.

The good news is that you don’t have to go out and buy a chemical-laden and expensive grout cleaner. Instead, you can open up your cupboards and find the ingredients for a homemade version that is just as good!

Here’s what you’ll need to make some homemade grout cleaner:

  • White vinegar (put in the microwave for one minute)
  • Dish soap (Dawn is usually the recommended dish soap for homemade cleaners, but any dish soap will work)

Mix equal parts dish soap and (warm) white vinegar in a spray bottle. Shake this up to mix and then spray right onto the grout that needs cleaning. Let the grout cleaner sit for a few minutes, and then scrub. After you have scrubbed the grout, wipe off with a wet cloth or rag.

Some alternative homemade grout cleaners include:

  • A combination of baking soda and vinegar
  • Baking soda mixed with water to form a thick paste
  • Hydrogen peroxide

If you choose to go with one of these methods, let the concoctions sit on the grout for a few minutes (hydrogen peroxide will need to sit on the grout for at least thirty minutes), and then scrub and wipe clean!

Of course, if you’d like to skip the scrubbing altogether, call us at Floor Restore & More to learn about our professional grout cleaning services!
